Gain Weight Diet - No Seefood Method

It’s hard to find information on a gain weight diet, right?  You might think the “seefood” method is the best option.  You know, eat what you see.  Even when trying to put on a few pounds, though, there is a healthy and not-so-healthy way to go about it.

1. Eat several small meals a day rather than three big meals.  You can actually take in more calories this way while avoiding the overstuffed just-ate-a-brick feeling.

2. Make sure your calorie intake is more than your calorie burn off.  Continue to exercise regularly, but take along protein bars, nut mixes and other healthy snacks to replace the calories that you lose at the gym.

3. Supplement a gain weight diet with meal replacement drinks.  Drink them with, rather than instead of, a meal two to three times a day.  These drinks are packed with nutrients and proteins because they are intended as a nutritional source for people who are having medical difficulties eating solid foods.

4. Shop food labels to see which ones contain more calories while maintaining healthy levels of fats and sodium.  Custard style or whipped yogurt usually contains more calories than creamy blends.  Real butter is actually healthier than margarine spreads.  Brown rice has more calories and nutrition than white rice without the glucose flood that makes you suddenly sleepy.

5. If you are significantly underweight, there are medications your doctor can prescribe to increase appetite along with a gain weight diet.  Most of these are effective in very low doses so you don’t have to worry about side effects possible from clinically therapeutic levels when you take the medication for a particular condition.

Being on a gain weight diet does give you some leeway in eating deserts, chocolates, and all those sugary guilty pleasures.  It is not a free license to do away with a health-conscious meal plan, though.  Eat a couple of cookies for your mid-morning snack, then stick with fruit and yogurt for your evening snack.  If you have a brownie with dinner, eat a banana with breakfast.  Just remember, you want your muscles and overall proportion to gain weight, not your arteries and heart.
